Learn about important updates on paramore.net!

To keep Paramore.net alive and healthy for many years to come, we've upgraded our backend technology. As many of you know, major technology changes such as these are rarely perfect, but we at Paramore HQ have worked extremely hard to make this transition as seamless as possible for you guys. The great news is our new platform gives us more flexibility to make improvements and add new features to Paramore.net faster than ever.

This blog post tells you, first, what you need to do to access your Paramore.net account on the upgraded site and, second, what’s different as a result of the changes.

1. To access your Paramore.net account, go to the login page and follow the instructions.
2. Here are some differences as a result of the changes:

First off, you'll notice that the style of the site hasn't changed, and things look the same....for now.  All the changes and upgrades are happening behind the scenes.  It does mean it affects some functionality of the site, and the full details are below.

User comments on profile walls have temporarily been disabled

At this time you will not be able write or receive comments on your user profile wall. We know this is a major bummer, and we promise to bring this functionality and more back to Paramore.net in short order.

Don’t worry – we saved your old profile comments and will restore them ASAP. The discussion boards are still fully functional and can be used for site communication with other members.

As always, please report spam or other un-Paramore.net like activity to the WebCrew. You can do it on this Spam Report thread.

HTML in User Profiles works differently

For your safety and security, we’ve tightened up our HTML and embed policies on the “About Me” sections of your user profiles.

This will mean that some scripts and iframe embeds will not be allowed in these sections. In order to turn HTML back on for your “About Me”, simply edit your profile (hover over your username in the upper right, and click Edit Profile). Then on the About Me question, change the dropdown menu that says “plain text” to “Filtered HTML”. Click Save at the bottom of the page and you’re all set.

Also, you may notice that your profile or avatar isn’t the one you’ve edited recently. We tried to keep up with all of your changes, but we had trouble keeping up with all 240,000 of you :P

Logging in with Facebook is easier than ever, and now you can login with Twitter too!

Check it out and connect your Facebook and Twitter accounts if you haven’t already. To do so, hover over your username in the upper right, and click Edit Profile. Then click the Social Publishing tab.

Uploading videos isn’t just for YouTube any more!

You can still post your favorite concert footage of Paramore to the Fan Videos section, and now you can use more sites – like Vimeo and TwitVid.

Note that we will no longer be supporting video file uploads to the site any more. We figured most of you already have YouTube accounts and can share any videos you upload there on Paramore.net on the Post a Video page.

Paramore.net and PFC Activity Feeds are no longer on the homepage

We have hidden the site activity feeds from the home page of the website, in order to create a cleaner, clutter-free site. If you all miss them, please let us know and we’ll consider adding them back.

Comment and forum activity history

We also removed comment and forum activity from your user profile pages. We felt like these created messy and long scrolling pages. Just like above, if folks strongly disagree with this decision and did find this feature useful, please let us know, and we will discuss adding it back.

As we said at the beginning of this post, we here at ParaHQ are looking forward to keeping Paramore.net rocking for a long, long time. These changes are a huge step to doing just that, and soon we’ll have much bigger and better things to share.
