life. melancholy. we are in springfield, missouri. just left bass pro shop/outdoor world. today is one of those days, where i feel like if i were at home, in franklin... i'd just want to lay around all day like a sloth. watch a few movies, maybe grab starbucks down the street and bring it back home. maybe cook something??? okay, yeah... probably not. it's just one of those days. instead, however, i'm sitting around on the bus. talledega nights is on the television in the front lounge and i'm in the back lounge listening to it and watching people walk on and off the bus. is this an exciting story or what? we don't play missouri too often. i'm excited to see how the show goes. the venue is really nice... big, as most of them have been, recently. it's definitely weird playing these half-arenas. ("i never realized how easy it was to half an arena with a machete..." sorry. just a quick 'Walk Hard' reference). lately, i've really missed those 300-400 cap rooms. heck, even smaller than that. pontiac grille, anyone? or what about the new brooklyn tavern? i think about those shows every night when we're playing. especially when asking how many people in the crowd have never seen us before. some of these kids are seeing us play for the first time in these huge halved arenas. how crazy is that? it's not sad... really, although some people might think so. it's actually pretty ridiculous, haha. they must think we are big time, or something. all this is to say, i can't really believe where we are right now. it's weird that i almost forgot where it started. that's why we had to go home for a whole month and just get away from the hype. we can't forget where it started... you know? when we do, it's just pointless. every band i've ever loved, i always saw in really small clubs. other than when i saw coldplay in '03 at the reiman auditorium. i don't know really what it's like to one day be one person out of 10 at a show and then next thing you know, be wrestling kids to get to the front in some half arena. the closest thing i know to that is seeing coheed in '03 at the Muse, then Rocketown in '04 (with AFI and Thursday!!!) and then seeing them the past couple years at the warped tour... playing to huge crowds. but at that point, our band had tour passes so i really didn't have to work that hard to see their set. i really don't know what it's like to follow a band the way some of you have followed us and worked hard to stay connected with us as we've tried to stay connected with you. so, thank you guys... for sticking with us. hangin in the long ass lines. everything. it's awesome. and if you are just now getting into all of this, welcome and thank you too, for all the support and enthusiasm you've shown. this was almost a pointless post... but i feel really good about it. these kind of days are really good, sometimes :) ps. dear and the headlights are amazing.

I just checked out Dear and The Headlights. You weren't kidding; these guys are good. I'm listening to a song called "Run In The Front" off of "Small Steps, Heavy Hooves". The instrumentation reminds me of Dashboard Confessional, and the vox are like Chris Carrabba meets Robert Smith. Speaking of Robert Smith, there is the band called Zox... you may have heard of them. Anyhoo, it's like the Cure if the cure were a ska band with a violin. That might sound weird but it's actually really good. You may find the music to be a little generic, but if you listen to the lyrics and give the songs a chance you will find that the shite will grow on you faster than you fall in love (little reference there).

This was a very satisfying post, madame. You know how to paint a picture with those words of yours. I think that it's awesome that you make it a point to stay grounded and remember where you come from. That is very admirable.

Hey! Haley I just want to tell you I LOVE you and what you stand for. You are showing your fellow rockers and fans that you don't have to be a guy to rock out. And to tell you the truth this is coming from a guy! And I want you to know that you have inspired me to wrte songs and become a singer like you. And who knows maybe we'll meet eachother one day. But to tell you the truth my goal in life is to meet you and sing with you. Maybe we'll become friends. but to get something off my chest... I have had a kindergarten crush on you since I first saw you and heard your voice. And to let you know if you do warped Tour 2008 (There have been rumors saying your not) and you come to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania you have to make a little stop to my hometown but I can't give you the address because i'm leaving a comment. But I guess you will be getting my e-mail address so you can e-mail me. But I know that everyone leaving a comment is asking to meet you. So I understand your decision. Because I always respect the decisions of others. Especially a female's decision. But if you did end up getting the chance to meet me you wouldn't regreat it. And I would hopefully write a song with you and sing it with you. And by the way I'm only 14 with an amazing voice that can almost match your singing voice. I know it's wierd and makes me sound like i didn't go through puberty. But trust me I did and I look hot. No not really... I'm not hot but I do have good looks. And I have a great sense of humor. So....... T.T.F.N! Ta-ta 4 now!
And to let you know if you ever need a body guard say: 14 years old, fast, and a master of the art of ASS Kickin'. You Know who to call. And I have always wanted to try this since my last name is Brown.... Okay you ready?.....
WHAT CAN BROWN DO FOR YOU?
Okay. I know what you're thinking... "What the heck is wrong with this kid?" But I thought it would make you laugh. But if it didn't I'm sorry for wasting your time. Bye.
