I LOVE PARAMORE. READ THE POST PROPERLY BEFORE COMMENTING. THESE ARE SOMEONE ELSE'S VIEWS, NOT MY OWN. I'M ONLY VOICING THEM.

No, this isn't another discussion about the general B.o.B. supporting. This is about the fact that by Paramore doing this, it kind of means that they are selling out?

Now, don't go hatin' on me. I'm just the messenger. My friend and a couple of other people have suggested that they're only getting B.o.B. to support because of Airplanes and how famous it is and aren't thinking about what makes the best show for the fans etcetcetc. Tbh I think she was just being bitter because she GENUINELY thought All Time Low were gonna support and was all hyped, which is downright ridiculous. I backed up my viewpoint, saying that Paramore have often said that they want to open their fans up to new music and like to take their friends on tour with them to have a good time as well.

Yet again, my friends words, not mine. I know alot of you are either incredibly pissed or incredibly excited.

So, what do you think? Have Paramore 'sold out'?

NOTE: Again, I am restating the fact that I am voicing my friends opinions, not my own. If you read the above, you will notice that I am defending Paramore in their support acts decision. I am against what my friends are saying. I posted this discussion to see what everyone else thought about it, knowing that there was alot of controversy, and will relay it back to my friends.

you guys do realize record labels hold alot of power over what bands do and all they care about is money

I was at the O2 in London on 13th November. When I first heard that B.o.B was supporting I wasn't massively excited TBH. However, I am open minded!

When his set first started I thought it was OK and enjoyable, not my sort of thing usually, but not bad. Then "Nothing on You" kicked in and got the crowd singing which was good. The last two songs in his set was GENIUS, they were well placed, energetic and bouncy. I think we all agree that he got the gig based on Hayleys involvment with Airplanes and the band friendship with him, but all in all he did what he was there to do! Warm up the crowd for Paramore.

No complaints from me!

I agree with y'all tbh. It was enlightening to see a different genre support Paramore, and I couldn't really care because I was there for Paramore and so were all the rest of their already sold out shows. I just basically agree with what Lovely Labrys said (:
And also, Millie, don't be ignorant. I hope you read original post, the part that's in caps.

I was at the Newcastle gig last night, and B.O.B was brilliant. I was in the front row, and could see that he gave every bit of himself to every song. Loved him!!

Only downer was that security kept making us sit down because the people behind us weren't standing. Even during 'Magic' - i was gutted.

I don't think Paramore sold out, I get the impression they choose to work with artists they really respect and get on with, and you could tell they had a good relationship with B.o.B.
I have to admit i really wasn't sure what to expect from B.o.B, but I thought he did a great job. I loved Airplanes but I knew all his songs wouldn't be like that, but he had a good mix of stuff, it wasn't all classic hip-hop. I thought his version of Kids by MGMT was especially good.
Also it was his birthday on that night so Hayley brought him back on in the middle of the encore and we all sang happy birthday! :-)

b.o.b was amazing in Dublin and i dont really like hip hop.....

synbiostael's picture

I don't think they have sold out, but i completely agree with @aag316 . When i saw BoB was singing before paramore i was: 'whaaaaat?! I hate hip hop!" But then Paramore went on stage and i forget anything else :).

In my opinion BoB didn't ruin Paramore, it made it better because i was more eager for them to start :D

LydiaConspires's picture

@lily80323 woah really? People actually did that? That is so out of line. I agree with what you said about it

Charlamore's picture

i dont think so, seeing as B.o.B and Paramore are label mates i think?
but anyway, B.o.B was only supporting, its not like they were doing a joint show. plus, B.o.B is awsome anyway :3

aag316's picture

I went to the show on Monday and to be honest I absolutely hate hip hop and anything to do with it. The only reason i think the Airplanes song is ok is because of Hayley. I respect Paramore's wish to have B.o.B opening and despite my hesitance i thought I would at least give him a chance. But to be honest I didn't like it at all and I personally felt very bored when he was on stage. I respect the fact that he was there but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Again its just my opinion and everyone is entitled to theirs.

lily80323's picture

I went to the show in london on Monday and there were a few people behind me holding up signs saying "B.o.B ruined Paramore", "This is a ROCK concert" and "Give us a real support band" and i just thought that it was completely wrong to do something like that.
In their bad attempts to bash B.o.B and his supporters, they were also insulting Paramore's judgement about bringing a variety of genres on tour with them. Before going to the show, i wasn't a fan of B.o.B, but having seen him in action, i was really pleasantly surprised.
I don't think it means Paramore have "sold out", it just means they're trying to broaden the minds of their fans musically.
But hey, just my opinion.

LovelyLabrys's picture

Everyone is entitled to their opinion Millie, there is no need to be rude.

I think people have totally misunderstood my post. I DON'T think B.o.B supporting Paramore is selling out by either of them, thats what i said. They obviously like him, and of course Hayley has worked with him. Just because his presence will probably have encouraged extra ticket sales, does not mean they have sold out - that is partly what a support act is for.

I was thrilled when it was anounced that B.O.B was supporting Paramore BECAUSE of the diverse musical styles, and couldn't understand all the haters saying that it was wrong.

docmartensaresexy's picture

Diversity is the spice of life tbh

Renegade 2.0's picture

I think you should stfu :) Paramore aren't selling out!

ShootingStars's picture

@LovelyLabrys B.o.B supporting Paramore is supporting musical diversity, if people accuse B.o.B supporting Paramore as them being selling out then do they think it's selling out if they don't stick to one type of music?

LovelyLabrys's picture

Who said that diversity of music was selling out?

ShootingStars's picture

because diversity of music = selling out... okay.

LovelyLabrys's picture

If you listen to B.O.B's album and other music, you realise that Hip-hop is his overall genre but he uses so many other musical styles as well. This is also demonstrated by the diversity of singers he uses on his tracks. B.O.B and Paramore blend perfectly.

Selling out is when something is done ONLY for the money. It is quite clear the Paramore genuinely like B.O.B. I t

I also agree that adding him to the bill, helped the sale of tickets. Many passing fans will have had their decisions swayed by another great act on the bill.

With a massive album, numerous awards and nominations and two (soon to be three) No.1's you could even argue that B.O,B is too big to be supporting Paramore.

ish_4's picture

not at all, there is no such thing as selling out. its just someone thinking they know what is best for the artist and when they do something different people think they are selling out. the paramore members have always love all kinds of music. they listen to stuff form country, to rock, metal, rap, christian, and even gospel. they have mentioned this from time to time. i think it is good that they are branching out and extending there music base. it really shows how much they have matured over the years and how far they have come as individuals, a group of friends, a family, and also a band

Domi92's picture

Personally, i don't think they are selling out. I think they want to encourage different types of music, as good as all time low are (which they are amazing) they are similar types of style just like you me at six are which is why i think its good they have a variety of music.. plus who cares at least we get to see paramore

jennamore's picture

i'm not a big fan of B.o.B. but i freakin' LOVE airplanes. they're just showing their fans different music, like you said. they're no sell outs.

bob did it's picture

Can't stand B.o.b myself so I'll just have to put up with him at the show. But it's not 'selling out' seeing that most of the tickets were already sold for the UK tour.

YelyahSandy's picture

Selling out? Nah.

I think FBR chooses things like that, and I actually kinda like B.O.B

Kimbear's picture

i dont mind tbh who is supporting- even though Im not impressed on who it is. I know some say that they are only doing it because they want more money, Which I KNOW that Paramore are not like that. at all! I dont actually like the girl who posted that on my facebook. But y'know... (:
Im going to see them in November, Im not their to disrespect the support bands and say how crap they are or whatever. Im there to see Paramore. And thats all that matters to me

Kimberlinaaa's picture

MEH!

LindseyBFMVfan's picture

I totally agree with @TakingUpOurTime and @paramuse
If you are a 'true' Paramore fan it won't matter who is supporting, some people are being so pathetic about it.
I LOVE bfmv and bmth are supporting them in december... I can't stand that band but I'm not going to boo them, bottle them or bad mouth them because there is no point. Basically at the end of the day we are all going to see the band we want to...

heyitslexi's picture

@RoaryUK i really don't think hayley is going to become a solo artist because she has said many times that she has no plans to, the most recent time being in may during the paramore takeover on fuse when she said she has never thought of seeing just her name in lights.

T.A.S.H.A 3's picture

Of course they're not selling out, just because a band is put into a certain genre it doesn't mean that when they go on tour the opening acts have to be in the same genre, theres no written rule.
I remember seeing Avril Lavigne in 2008 in Birmingham and her opening act was THE JONAS BROTHERS!

And i've seen a few comments with people saying they don't want to go if B.o.B is opening or they don't want to buy tickets because he is, in my opinion that is just being petty, at the end of the day you're not there to see the support act, you're there to see Paramore, and its not like you have to go into the room until paramore come on stage anyway.
Problem Solved.

abisnail's picture

hell can i rant.

abisnail's picture

i think just because B.o.B isn't a rock at we're all freakin' out here. seriously people? okay. yeah i get the fact that we'd be stoked if it was all time low or YMAS, but seriously give the dude a chance. just because hayley collaborated with him on one song does not mean
a. hayley's going solo (man, where the hell did that come from?)
b. paramore are selling out. seriously?!

let's appreciate the fact hayley and b.o.b are FRIENDS (sorry capital emphasis there) so yeah, she probably asked him. because we didn't get pissed when we found out that new found glory were supporting and chad's dating hayley. i'm not indicating that hayley and b.o.b are dating, please take what i said the way it's meant. was that a crappy example? so hayley has a link to the guy therefore he's a supporting act. be happy. and if y'all hate him so much there's still fun. who are ammmmaaazing. to a degree :P
