Pete Wentz has posted a blog post talking about him leaving the band.
They are on an indefinate hiatus, meaning that he may return if the band wish to continue but he may not. Also, the band may continue without him.
I've been a big fan for 8 years. It feels so weird having such a huge impact on my life die out.

Well since they have announced this, Patrick Stump has announced that he will be officially releasing a solo album. He intends to write perform and record it all himself, so watch out for this in the near future.
i wish that they would go on tour for the last time as a band
well, fall out boy is on hold for now, im sure of that. i have no idea whats going on but i just heard.
yeah this does suck. but at least they've made a LOT of music...

i'm not a huge fan of fall out boy, but i do love their music, and im pretty upset about them leaving music for a while, so i can't imagine what some of the hardcore fans feel like.

i've loved FOB since i heard Thanks For The Memories... which was sometime in... July? I dunno. My friend showed the song to me :) and aww i love Pete he rocks! i don't want him to leave :(

I'm quite a big FOB fan but can't stand Pete for some reason. I'd like to see them go on but i am looking forward to Patrick's "solo" (though he doesn't want to call it that) album and looking forward even more to Joe's and Andy's new band, the damned things album :D
I read that and I was gutted. I've been a FOB fan for years as well and they're one of the bands, along with Paramore, that sparked my love of music. They're one of the first bands that produced music that I actually fell in love with and it sucks to think that they might break up for good. But I guess we can still hope for the best and I wish them luck in whatever they choose to do.
I think FOB could go on without Wentz, now.. if Patrick left the band I'd cry cos Patric pwns Pete.
