avril lavigne is incredible - she is never afriad to be hrself and her music helped me through loads when i was younger. i loved her first 2 albums but wasnt so keen on the best damn thing, but ive heard what the hell off the new album and i cant stop singing it!

I love Avril. A couple years ago, I was obsessed with Girlfriend, one of her poppy songs,but then I got into her older stuff. I stopped listening and now I love What The Hell. When Your Gone used to make me cry.
I love Avril Lavigne. her first two albums "Let Go" and "Under My Skin" were amazing. I have them both. They both had a lot of emotion, and thought, and they were easily relatable. In an interview about "The Best Damn Thing" she said that the songs didn't have as much meaning to her as the songs on her previous records, and that the album was more for fun. Which is perfectly fine. The songs on "The Best Damn Thing" aren't my favorite songs in the world, but there's nothing wrong with them. Just because she was a little more punk rock on two records, and was more popish on a third does not make her a sell out. She was 17 when "Let Go" came out, 19 when "Under My Skin" came out, and 22 when "The Best Damn Thing" came out. So she's young and was probably changing a lot as a person between under my skin and the best damn thing. She was probably trying to find out who she was, now that she was older than the "sk8er chick" as people called her form the 'let go' era. So I have no idea how changing genres, and changing your style a little bit makes you a "sell out". ugh people are annoying.
Also, i'm really excited for "Goodbye Lullaby" it's another new Avril. :)
It's a shame What The Hell was the first single though, it's not the strongest song and will make people think it's another bubblegum poprock album. I prefer Under My Skin/Let Go era but I like Not Enough and will give the rest of Goodbye Lullaby a listen.
