What is it with people that they hate the newer fans of Paramore? I don't understand it really. I hate the fans who squeal like pigs at concerts, compare Paramore to every other band try and force this band on other people but just because they heard decode from twilight it doesn't mean they deserve to be looked down upon. This kind of hate is found mostly on the internet through forums and youtube discussions.
If you're one of the people who dislike the fans who discovered paramore because of twilight or BNE, can you explain to me what it is that makes you think this way?
I've liked them since AWKIF and this has confused me since.

I've been a fan since AWKIF, like you. People who just know them from Twilight aren't as big of fans as they think they are (I'm sorry, it's true.)

AWKIF had more of a...raw sort of sound. i'm not sure if that describes it the best..but it just sounded really genuine. not that their other ones didn't.
I totally agree with the hating on wannabe Paramore fans, I myself have been a fan since Riot! But have listened to AWKIF a lot, and I have to admit, I do prefer the older Paramore to the newer. No offense to the newer, because that's great to, but there was something about those first 2 albums that were brilliant! BNE is awesome to, but the first to for me were the best.

BNE had more of a rock sound than anything.
It was Riot! which had a pop sound, nothing less then pop-punk, but once pop is in the genre, then it doesn't matter.
i dislike people that claim how much they love paramore. but they just jump around to misery business and decode. and think Hayley is the only person in the band, and cannot even realize how to spell her name. and give no credit to any of the other members of the band. it just happens that older fans know more about them, and give credit to the band as a whole, not just Hayley.
i heard decode and fell in love with it but i had no idea it was for twilight back then. and nobody should criticise anyone about how they found out about paramore. Atleast they think paramore is awesome and that's all that matters
I just hate the people who say "OMG IM PARAMORES #1 FAN!!!!" yet they only know Decode and they only know Paramore as just Hayley and not even as a band yet they can't even spell her name right
I think its fine to like only 1 or 2 songs from a band and never bother to check out the rest. Whatever's best for paramore.
It's a semantics problem, basically. it depends on what you classify as a fan, and frankly definitions are a waste of time. live and let live.
Seriously, though, I think it is territoriality. people want to claim Paramore as their fandom thingy, and when other people who aren't into it as much come along and say the same thing, it makes them annoyed. Its stupid...

Basically the pre and AWKIF fans wanted to keep Paramore their little secret @ Cult or Indie status. Paramore is evolving the older fan base are not. It's a form of jelousy and for reasons beyond our control some of the older fan base find it hard to deal with and share the success/popularity of the band with others. Fans are like this with all bands/entertainers, etc that are talented and lucky enough to achieve commercial success.
AWKIF and RIOT! had a punk sound
twilight was a start of a more mainstream sound
BNE has almost none of the same punk sound as RIOT! and AWKIF did some of the older fans may not have liked the more pop sound and so they said they didnt like it because they didnt like this different sound
I think it's cool paramore expands its fanbase. in any way... twilight, BNE or otherwise. It doesn't bother me that some fans just know two songs by them. It's just a matter of time before they catch up with the rest of their amazing music. It's just like all that stupid discussion about "real fans" and "fake fans". It's all chilidish and there's no point to it. I didn't know they existed when AWIF came out, does that make me less of a fan? No, it doesn't. Fans are just fans.
what does bother me, is when people get excesively defensive of paramore, up to a point where they can't stand someone not liking them. when they say they're the best band in the world. and when they try to make everyone love them as much as they do. everyone has different tastes in music... and in everything really. you can't expect people to be your clone, just for you to like them! that's stupid.
@hmadrid69 Well, let me tell you something, I don't wanna fight with you but I became Paramore fan true Twilight, but I like Twilight and I LOVE Paramore. I'm biggest fan of Paramore than Twilight. So that's just doesn't matter, the important thing is that we ARE Paramore fans.
And to clarify, I'm fine if they love specifically 2 songs but it bothers me when people who consider themselves fans are like "oh yea, I love Decode!" It's fine if you love Decode but when thats the only one they know, it can get pretty annoying. And then, it really bugs me when they think they are the number one fan of Paramore by only knowing Decode! grrrr.

ii found outt about paramore through twilight but i love and know all there songs. ii have all there album. ii get crap in school for liking but ii dont care ii still love them. ii know people who have been listenin to paramore since AWKIF but say that they dont like them in school or around people who dont like them it really annoying.
Ooh and people who only listen to the to songs in twilight and dont bother to listen to the other songs arent real fans.
I don't care that they are fans of paramore because of "Brand New Eyes" But if they are fans of paramore because of "Twilight" then that kinda means they are fans just because of "Twilight".
I totally agree! I found Paramore through loving twilight. But now i love them just as much as the older fans and am pretty sure i know as many words to all the paramore songs as they do. I have all the albums and have seen them live so i dont see what the problem is?? us newer fans love em just as much so the older fans should be HAPPY!.
I totally agree. it doesn't matter HOW you became a fan, it matters that you ARE a fan. whether you've liked them since AWKIF or since bne, you are still a fan. :)
it is really stupid, i mean if we were actually fans of paramore then we should be real happy that they have more fans and get to live their dream even more. whether that means through twilight or Brand New Eyes. twilight, maybe some of them think they have a point. but BNE thats the lamest thing ive heard. thats paramores new album. eughh some people are just stupid, gotta ignore them. my brother introduced me to paramore when i was about eleven, three years ago, loved em' ever since :)

It's kinda like an elite-ist attitude, because fans who have "been there from the beginning" feel like newer fans are jumping on the band wagon. That's kinda how I see it. I've loved Paramore for years ,and anything that brings them more attention, fans, and any other good things, I'm all for..because they deserve it. I want everyone to love them.

i'm the person who heard paramore on twilight, was like, ok, thats a nice song, and the same time I GOT MY FIST IPOD! so i never was really into music before that either, and then i never even got any of their albums until i heard fences, so twilight wasn't even the thing and i hate people who are all like 'yeah, your not a REAL fan' its like you want to scream in their face.....i mean, COME ONE i know all their songs by hearts, including the ones that aren't even on albums, how can you call me 'not a real fan'?

Why is that fair? You were at that level and they're expressing how much they like them for those 3 songs, imagine how much they could like them if you got off your high horse and sent them other songs.
It's just annoying when they say that they are fans but they have only listened to 2-3 songs and make out that they are the biggest fans. It's good when Paramore get new fans though even if they had discovered Paramore through Twilight or Brand New Eyes. :) That's what I think anyway...
I'm exactly the same, and im with you! Everyone has got to find them somehow! I've known them since AWKIF too, and i;ve always welcomed knew fans! I think some people just think it's cool to hate newer music or nerwe fans of a band, because they think they are the best and only worthy fan. pfft. I don't hate anyone. so especially not just random people who havent known paramore as long as i have!
ok the first song i listen to from them was decode yes...but i didn't even know that it was the twilight theme song...i watched the video on mtv and thought that this band was amazing...this is how it started that has nothing with this '2-song-phenomena' to do...i love and know all their records and go to concerts and so on..
