I Need Some Advice From My Fellow Concert People.

    Edited on March 30, 2012

I am going to go to the Paramore concert in October and I am super excited because this will be my first full on Paramore concert.

I went to Soundwave but that was different because they only played for around 35minutes and it was in a huge oval area and outside.

But what I wanna know is where should I stand or should I get a sitting seat? And If i am standing, what happens if i dont get anywhere near the front? I mean, if I will be standing which I think is what I wanna do- wont i have to line up HOURS before the show actually starts?

So please if you have any helpers for me, i will be very thankful. :D

@vampirecupcake yess you will defs be squashed but thats the whole point of standing in the mosh!! it is the best experience ever and hey you are seeing paramore soooo pain wont be a problem :P
time doesnt matter coz you can always get to the front if ya good at moving throught the mosh and wells if ya sitting than you dont got a problem.
for clothes... wear comfy clothes that you can rock ouuutt!!! :D :D
and well there is a very high chance you will be soaked at the end of it.... ooooohhh one more thing wear comfy shoes that can stand being stomped on :)
hope i helped

I'm going to the Paramore concert too but I'm only short and I'm worried I'll get squashed also I'm wondering what would be practical to wear? And what time is usually good to get there if your only coming close to the starting time?

theonlyexception_27's picture

i have the same problem! i went to soundwave too and the mosh pit for paramore was REALLY painful, it was insane! i really want to stand though, and i would like to get as close as possible, but i'm kinda short so i don't want to get like, pushed around heaps!!! i'm so confused lol :)

DanielaDemented's picture

theres no seating a riverstage, but you wouldnt want to sit anyway. if you want to be near the front you'll hve to get there super early and line up but its worth it in the end. i think in general the closer you are to the stage, the wilder the mosh is, but thats not necessarily true lol.

AustraliaNeedsMoreParamorexx's picture

@KymRiot yeah that would be awesome! except doesnt the barrier hurt and you get hit in the face heaps!?

KymRiot's picture

dude you should totally go with standing. i do that at every concert. also i got to the venue and wait for about 8 to 9 hours before the concert. it generally isnt that boring, you meet really cool people there in line, AND i went to see paramore at their sidewave show in brissy in Feb and coz we were waiting outside forever, we saw them enter the venue and they waved to us and said hey. it was cool and plus you get front barrier which i always aim for. :)

RachelCheree91's picture

Well, In Brisbane here I know the Riverstage = no seating, as far as I'm aware, meaning lots of lining up!

Even for the Sidewave in Feb, we got there a few hours before and there were lotttttts of lining up. If you do, take stuff to keep you entertained, but NOT valuable stuff if you can help it.

Ahh last time I was at the Riverstage we front rowed Slipknot. it was fabulous but as you could imagine..

Throwaway-able entertainment!! :) Like wat though..

Mmmmmmfrozenyoghurt Very good advice. I'd also add take food. In particular sugary goodness. The SEC has a maccas right next door on door D i think. sweeeeet

Gonna_Sing_The_Doom_Song's picture

Not in Australia. AAA. If you want to die of mosh related injuries at the age of twelve its up to you.

Mmmmmmfrozenyoghurt's picture

I don't know about Australia but here in the UK the age limit is usually 14, but unless your like a rugby player or something, i wouldn't go standing untill your about 16,17. And if your short then it's probably not a good idea.
And if you do go standing DO NOT get involved in any moshing, a girl got her neck broken in the circle pit for YM@6 when they supported Paramore here last December.
Also take as much water as you can, wear cool clothing, closed-toe shoes, don't take a bag- it will get lost, instead only take the essentails, and put them in your pocket, but make sure your pockets have zips.
Get to know those around you: chat to them and make friends while you're waiting for the show to start :)
If your feeling faint or in pain, don't be afraid to speak up and tell those around you, they will crowd-surf you out.
Now this is one of the most important things- before the show arrange a meeting point with your friends, incase you get split up; even if you start out together there is a high possibility of you getting seperated
If you stick to those rules, you should go standing - it really makes the experience so much more intense and is some of the most fun you will ever have!! XD
p.s sorry for rambling :)

awesome thankyou all so much I can't decide wether or not to stand or sit iagree that standing for a concert would be the best but I just wanna be able to see and if that means getting abseat I think I will but I will try for the front. I would only yet a seat if I could stand and dance- gosh I have no idea !

Also I heard somewhere that there is an age limit to go into the mosh, is that true and what age!

Gonna_Sing_The_Doom_Song's picture

My belief is if your going to a concert stand!
But that is just me.
Further to the rule, if you do decide to stand aim for the wings, the front or the back.
Unless you want to be in a wheelchair for a while after, avoid the middle. Paramore at Sydney wasn't too bad but if you get a band like ymas to support and they want you to start walls of death or circle pits then you are gonna get hurt and misplaced! The entertainment center is great for seating. I have never seated at a concert but at EV people could clearly see. It wasn't like the big top how there was a bottom and top and you were screwed if you were at the back of the top layer. In conclusion. do what you feel is best for you. If you are spending the money for this and are only 5''3' and get smack in the middle then what was the point other than having you face in taller peoples armpits. The crowd at the big top was tame. the crowd at SW was intense. The crowds at the other SW's and sideshows were apparently also pretty intense. choose wisely

i went to paramore at luna park, and i was towards the left infront of taylor. im pretty short, so i couldnt see that well, even though i was probably standing about one metre from the barrier. i lined up from 4pm, and its just everyone from themselves from there. in the actual mosh, you get pushed and shoved, and even though i was on the side, if the people around you move, so do you. and i had to put up with these stupid teenage girls infront of me who were desperately trying to knock me over. this time, im planning to try and get very close seats, as this time i kind of glad that i can sit down and just enjoy the show, rather than worrying about the people around me and trying to see the show. hope this helps :)

i was in the mosh for the brisbane sidewave and im quite short, but i was a couple of rows from the front so i could still see really well. be prepared to lose your breath, sweat heaps and get stepped and pushed on alot hahaha. i got there like an hour early and was halfway down the line but as @titans85 said when the doors open, it's a free for all.
but just have fun, paramore are amazing live :)

Mattrocks's picture

Wear cool clothes, as @ignorance said. Also; covered shoes. And a water bottle, 'cause you'll either be singing along or cheering (or both :D), and that coupled with the heat generally generated in the mosh will get you dehydrated.

That's my tips :D Then again, I'm an amateur mosher :D

Ravens85's picture

If you don't mind having your chest crushed for a couple of hours, go on the barrier it's worth it, but otherwise, anwhere in the pit will be good. No matter where you start out, chance are you will end up somewhere else.
I got to Luna park at about 10:30 and there were only about 20 people in front of me, but i had a m&g so i got let in first. No matter how far up the line you are, when the doors open, it's a free for all

ana_loveparamore2death's picture

um.... if i were u i'd camp a day b4 just to get a few feet look at hayley

well i know soundwave killed. the barriers were like boiling on you skin from the heat and people we so pushy....this is my ultimate mosh rule, if people push you....you push them back. then go in frount of them to get to the frount.

I went to the Melbourne sidetour and had a seating ticket. During You Me At Six the security guards made every one keep seated.. but when Paramore came on we all just stood up anyway.. it was fantastic and i imagine it was kind of like being in the moss pit- only without the getting squished bit. Plus everyone could see.

anyway its up to you what you do. ive never been in the mosh pit area so i cant really compare what its like.

AustraliaNeedsMoreParamorexx's picture

hmm yeah thanks :)

im super excited now!

ignorancemynewbestfriend's picture

@AustraliaNeedsMoreParamore!xx if get pretty hot in there..id recommoend dress in cool clothes

AustraliaNeedsMoreParamorexx's picture

yeah- cause i was in the mosh for Paramroe at soundwave which was awesome so i know i will get squashed but you loose yourself in the music so it does not matter. :)

But do you rekon shorts are okay to wear or should it be long pants?

melissa ♫'s picture

yea, wait a few decent hours with your food, etc.. if you want to be in the mosh pit be prepared for being squashed big time && perhaps a few bruises oin the morning lol soo even though you cant breathe properly the whole time it's sooo wicked!! i even had hayley look at me while i was filming a song woo!!!

AustraliaNeedsMoreParamorexx's picture

yeah thats what i thought would happen- so you think i would be better off just anywhere? Like the middle of the mosh or just not right on the barrier?

Ravens85's picture

Believe me it doesn't matter where you stand. I went to the sydney show at luna park, and i was front row, right in the middle. I stayed there for You mE At Six's set, but when Paramore came on the surge was so bad, and by the end of the concert I was directly in front of Jeremy (who was on the end)

Moving wise, you couldn't move much, it was so packed and everyone was squashed together, you move when the croud moves. Worst part about being on the barrier is they pull the people that have collapsed over the top of you. I had quite a few people kick me in the head or get dropped on my head/neck.

ignorancemynewbestfriend's picture

Nah I'll be going to Melbounre

thank you :)

i don't know what its like in sydney its probably worse but im in perth and when i saw Green Day in december i was there only about an hour before the door opened and i managed to get to the barrier, for some reason people started moving away from the barrier just before Green Day came on and when every one turned to watch the guys go up the part of the stage that sticks out into the crowd i managed to move further forward easily. but then again im short and can wiggle through the crowds easy, i recommend wiggling forward if you can
