The video shows William's being singled out and ignored by the other members of the band. A single lightbulb shines throughout the video and it is constantly on her, no matter how hard she tries to stretch the wire and shine it on the other members. The video cuts between the band preforming in a cramped little room, a larger preformance area and Williams being laid bare is white clothes, hair pulled back etc. The video ends with the other members of the band being able to wrap the lightbulb wire around Williams, showing how the spolight is only on her and never on the other band members
@niko
i agree with you on the lightbulb interrogation thing.
i'm glad hayley wrote that song i listen to it when i'm mad and stuff
awesome :)
I'm really glad Hayley had the strength to make herself vulnerable and get this out. I'd be a sad person if Paramore would have broken up. Very sad.
Yeah i can totally understand that, its very clever, paramore for the win ^_^
I get it :p
i really dont see it that way
Niko, I am not saying that this is the only meaning, anyone can have their own interpretation of the video, or the song.
I don't see it like that. When I listen to the lyrics, I hear her talking about how a certain person (or maybe people in this case) treat her differently, don't accept that she's changed, that she feels judged. I see the lightbulb as a means of, yes, a spotlight but also in the interrogatory sense.
Like during a trial or interrogation, a light is often shined right on the defendant, or in this case, Hayley, because she is being judged by someone.
i love it. i can actually get the meaning of it.
it's poetic and beautiful
i love them all...togetherr!
I luv the video, now i understand it more clearly,i luv the guys all of them are PARAMORE, not just Hayley :)
I think that it's really great that they were able to share that with their fans. The true fans see it, but the people who aren't such bigs fans were actually bothered by the video saying the "spotlight was always on Hayley" and didn't get what it was saying.
I love the entire band, and this video is just amazing. I love the meaning behind it.
There are some fans who regret Hayley being some much in the spotlight in this video and the guys getting less attention. There's even a discussion about it somewhere on this site. I agree with the spotlight-idea. I've seen an interview with the band talking about writing BNE and Hayley said Ignorance is about her feelings towards the rest of the band at some moment in the past. I assume it is about the period in which Hayley got so much attention (remember her "paramore is a band" t-shirts?), this fits in nicely with the idea of the light as a spotlight constantly focussing on Hayley. In the video, she directs her words at the other members of the band so maybe they had some kind of an argument about it? Maybe some of the guys thought she was actually seeking and enjoying the attention? This is ofcourse only guesswork :)
I like the video and the song a lot.. It's like 3 minutes and 39 seconds of bottled up frustration xD
well. that maybe the idea of the video.. the connection to the meaning of its lyrics is a bit close.. a song of betrayal but not in the group maybe..
but at least us real paramore fans like the rest of the band!!!
yeah i knew thats what is was about because hayley had said tha ignorance the song had alot 2 do with josh feeling like she took the spotlight.
i dont get the the hair pulled back though...kinda random
thats what i was thinking about it. it was more apparant when they were trying to wrap her up in the wires...none of them were paying attention to her.
btw, wikipedia...not a reliable source. hahaha.
wow its a really good idea for the video
i understand it more now
ooh now i get it!! hehehehe.. :P
(I didn't understand at first.. was.. funny :P)
That's right.
kool. reminds me of the dont speak video by No Doubt. Love the video
whoa i would have never deduced that from just watching it once. dude, your good.
Deep. I like hahah
yer matches the song good
Makes sense to me.
It's supposed to be a feeling of claustrophobia.
Centered by the other members of the band.
I thought I was right!!
