If you want a link to the song then please by all means click where this writing is. (Yes, that's my tumblr but I was on the page at the time and youtube would probably delete it at some point etc etc)
LYRICS:
You escape like a runaway train
Off the tracks and down again
My hearts beating like a steam boat tugging all your burdens
On my shoulders
In the mourning I'll rise
In the mourning I'll let you die
In the mourning. All my worry.
Now there's nothing but time that's wasted
And words that have no backbone
And now it seems like the whole worlds waiting
Can you hear the echoes fading
In the mourning I'll rise
In the mourning I'll let you die
In the mourning. All my sorrys.
It takes all my strength not to dig you up
From the ground in which you lay
The biggest part of me.
You were the greatest thing,
And now you are just a memory to let go of...
In the mourning I'll rise
In the mourning I'll let you die
In the mourning. All my sorrys.
What do you think of the song?
As good at the live/FBR15/acoustic thing that Hay and Tay recorded?
I really like it. It's fabulous and amazing etc etc
It's my favorite song after Farro's left the band... a beautiful song, with a beautiful letter and come on guys, how about a slow song by
paramore? don't have how to get better.
But how could anyone define "pop"? Something that's "popular"? It's not really a definable category other than how some music executive or radio person decides to label a song.
On our US XM14 Y2KPop station today I heard Muse and Fall Out Boy. Most people wouldn't consider those "pop" but they're on a pop station.
Joan Jett's Bad Reputation definitely was considered "alternative" when it came out. Now that Avril's done it on her most recent album does that make it "pop"? I don't think it does. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqGUbJcvEUg
Is Black Star pop? I can't tell: http://youtu.be/NZ7ezgZnFe4
I think the In The Mourning studio version has many country music production elements to it, and is absolutely brilliant. Hayley's voice is reminiscent of Emmylou Harris or Miranda Lambert, and, while there are country overtones, it is clearly a Paramore song!
Good music exists from all genres. We're lucky we have artists like Paramore, Avril, Taylor Swift, Metallica, Disturbed, Panic! At The Disco, Korn, Opeth, Evanescence and many others who embrace all kinds of music and can blend styles across those genres.
"The more music you discover the happier you'll be."
*you know it sucks
Holy crap in a cup
@Matt Yes I have not heard far too many of Avril's songs before, just the really popular ones. When I was younger, my favorite song was Sk8r Boy I remember ;) I would not say that Sk8r Boy or Girlfriend or something like that is pop, but those songs like What The Hell and this new song that I knew was Avril but don't know the name of that was just terrible (if you do know what I'm talking about, don't disagree with me, you it sucks). Overall I came to think that she was pop but you seem to know more than I do so I suppose that it is safe to say that a portion of her songs are pop at least. I don't have anythin against her and for the most part I like her music, just not her new stuff. Perhaps it is heenew ssongs that are pop? Is she switching over? I don't know, I would just assum that, but you probably know the answer to that question ;)
@martinhardee i like that quote:) and the link, thanks
Quanity doesn't always mean quality.
The best recent quote I've seen on this subject of pigeonholing music into "pop" "country" etc is a simple tweet from Hayley back in October:
"The more music you discover the happier you'll be."

It's so beautiful
I loved the In the Mourning,and yeah the other one at the FBR 15 acoustic thing with taylor and hayley was good and im not disliking it, i just thing that it's more "homey" or "fresh", and i guess you could say more "acoustic like". But both are good. And Avirl? I think she's kind of a singer that puts emotional lyrics into up beat "pop-like" rythems. But that doesn't mean she's completely just pop. She plays an electric guitar dude, you call that pop?:)
Not that pop musicians can't play electric guitar, it's just that THAT is Avril's style:) and she has good music, should it matter if it's pop or not??
Oh My God! I am seeing Peirre and Midnight fighting wherever I go! I might be going insane. Maybe, just maybe. ;(
Are we talking about Avril Lavigne? I thought this was a Paramore website, but whatever. ;) Well, I wouldn't describe Avril as pop, maybe... Pop Rock? I guess she is kind of op, but more punk rock. I dunno. Anyway, I LOVE In The Mourning.
@Mystupidfeetkeepmoving
I think you'll find that she isn't pop.
It annoys me so much when people say she is. The vast majority of her songs as in, WAY more than half are actually ridiculously mellow and emotion songs. Even the "poppier" songs have similar kind of backgrounds but with a more upbeat tempo.
She has always been like that but less. I can't describe her style but it really isn't pop.
Omg I swear. Sorry for the errors.... *However, like Matt said, her music ISN'T 100% pop.
*not all Americans love COUNTRY (not pop)
.... Whoopsies ;)
@Palinthe: First of all, you are right about Avril being pop, I will give you that. However, like Matt said, her music is 100% pop. Besides that, I really do disagree with what you are arguing. for one, a song being catchy does not make it pop. HCW isn't pop, it has rock instrumentals, to start. Paramore does not have one pop song. And if HCW is pop, then I would assume that you believe that songs like Where The Lines Overlap, is pop too? No. Also, not all Americans love pop. Way to be stereotypical. I am from America, and most people I know hate country. And of all the things you said that really ticked me off, no offense, is how you said that paramore wrote ITM just to become more popular. Seriously? That is such a false statement! They wrote the Singles Club songs for tjemselves and their fans. If they wrote it to "become more popular" then they would've put it on itunes and all that good stuff. But did they? No. Importatnly, you make it seem like this is the first time paramore has written songs like this *news flashhh* it isn't. Ever heard You Ain't Woman Enough? That song is hard core country, my friend. Therefore, paramore really isn't changing incthe ways that you say they are. The only thing, music-wise, that I see a difference in, is the harmonizing (which you have not mentioned).
I like the song. It's a nice way to round off the singles club and it's different to the previous 2. Not my favourite, HCW is still my fave but I still love it :)
That's the translation:
"Did you saw, this guy is horribly boring(might be other words but I don't know them), he is always looking for troubles with everybody, he must take himself for a kind of chief or a musical boss, I have watched his wall and he can't stop talking like a shithead (I'm talking very strangely for he don't understand ^^).
Anyways, he is starting to break my fucking balls (others translations are possible, but I think that you get the idea...)
Bye and goog luck"
That approximatively the translation ;)
Bitch.
@Pierre
Aside from you being painfully moronic, you're also bitching about me in french.
Coward.
A Palinthe:
@Palinthe
All catchy music is pop eh?
Slipknot's Psychosocial is clearly pop music then.
American's don't all love country. How ignorant are you?!
My argument about pop singers is bad? Oh, well there you go then. I've been defeated.
I didn't say you did say the band was bad. I can't help but notice that you're putting words into my comment that weren't originally there
I'm "insulting" you because what you said was absurdly ignorant and painfully stupid to read.
Avril Lavigne isn't pop....
I can't even understand how you can say that. She has some pretty "poppy" songs but her sound is quite clearly rooted in rock music. Even Girlfriend has a rockier kind of edge more than it does pop.
Again, you're proving yourself to be insanely ignorant, but that's fine. I can't expect everyone to be open minded or accepting. There has to be some fucking idiots somewhere in the world so we can differentiate between those with intelligence and those who are going to help destroy the human race. You think I'm being hyperbolic. Just look at the people in power right now :')
@ Palinthe I feel the way you do for the most part. I don't like the direction of the singles collection particulary HCW and Renegade which the studio versions are too poppy. I don't feel that way about ITM. I'm not sure if the added instruments help or hurt the song on the studio version. I still like it a lot and more than the others in the singles collection. that said I still prefer the acoustic live versions. We'll just have to wait for the full new album to get real taste of the direction the band will be taking
It's a little bit Taylor Swift-y, and that can't be a terrible thing, really.
And I don't think it's pop at all. Not really. Genres don't actually matter! If you like the music, you like the music.
LOLL! I've just saw you said that Avril Lavigne isn't pop!! hahaha
To MidnightFelicis97
LOL! youre answer makes me laught I have to tell you...
First... yes it's pop because it's way too catchy and simple... people in USA seems to love country (lol) and I think that's why they do this song... to be popular! (I know they're from Tennesse and personnaly I dont think it's the reason). Also, you're argument about pop singer is...bad?
Secondly... I didn't say that the band is bad I said that they're changing in a bad way because I don't like the new songs.
It's my opinion and I don't understand why you are insulting me like that... well, it's ok! I red you're profile and I understand...
I admit that after all I listen to the song (many times) because it's Paramore and I will always love them but I'm still disappointed and frustrated about their new sound. I was just hopping some reactions and see if people where thinking the same way as I do.
Yours truly
Palinthe
(My english can be bad I'm French)
when i saw the FBR15 i was nearly in tears. this song is my favourite of all the new songs. Any one who thinks they have gone pop needs to get their ears checked!
The only difference now than from BNE is that the songs are happy. BNE is amazing but just cause a song is happy doesnt make it pop. Be happy that Taylor,Hayley and Jeremy are happy and dont be dissing on them
@Palinthe
Your dispicable
@Midnightfelicis97
I want them to grow and develop, I just don't want them to lose the classic Paramore sound while they do that. I do like where they are going but I'm just saying, I also don't want them to change their sound too much.
Sorry wow I meant it's NOT like todays pop music
@Para I Want More
HOW is it though?
What aspect of it is "poppy"? It's got a happy sound. The beat is uplifting. It isn't heavy or fast. It relies much less on the drum and a bit more on the bass but that doesn't make it poppy.
They don't have an AWKIF sound at heart. They have a paramore sound and that will forever grow and develop as they do.
I don't think when people say HCW is poppy that's it's like today's pop music but more that, for Paramore it is on the poppier side. I totally agree, it's not as hard as their old music. I don't think Paramore is going pop, not at all. I love the song but it's not my favorite.
I love In the Mourning it's so meaningful and Hayley's voice is beautiful but I wish they didn't use Landslide. It fits in beautifully with the song and I know what they were getting at and I do like it, but I wished they used their own music because it would have made it more personal. (Don't misunderstand what I'm saying I love both songs, In the Mourning and Landslide, but I'm just saying my opinion.)
Renegade, I love but it's not my favorite. That's really all I have to say.
Monster is my favorite! I loved it from the start because it's like a mix of their old sound and their new sound and it worked.
I want Paramore to experiment with their song but I hope they keep their AWKIF sound at heart.
Overall, I do like the singles club and I am satisfied.
I love In The Mourning. It´s very different. It´s not poppy,it´s FOLK!
@Palinthe they may be losing one fan like you, but every day they gain 100+ sooo yeah aha.
