Just tell her you like rock music? I think you're being a little dramatic. So what if she doesn't understand the type of music you like, it's not her that is listening to it. She can't exacly stop you from listening to Linkin Park etc, can she? All you need to do is tell her that rock music is what you like listening to it, and if she doesn't like it, then it's not your fault. Maybe let her hear Misguided Ghosts or The Only Exception or something, just to show her that Paramore etc, have more to them than screaming. Which, Paramore don't really do all that much, but whatever.
Just tell her how much you like rock music. Find a song that is slow but at the same time has rock beats like We Are Broken maybe, show her that and see what she thinks. Just tell her, rock isn't always rock, rock doesn't have to be mad people screaming or drum beats and stuff, rock music can be beautiful and Paramore have expressed all types of rock. Do you kind of understand what I'm saying?? Haha :)
