Mithra was born. Roman's and Pagans celebrated this god of the sun on Dec 25 up until the 4th century until Julius the 1st, Pope of Rome, suddenly decided it was Jesus' birthday. Even though there is no evidence to sugguest this in the bible or anywhere else for that matter.
