Is anyone else on here a vegetarian or vegan?

& if so, how long have you been one? Was it hard for you to change, or is it a family thing?

I tried to become a vegetarian back in 07 but I failed. then in August this year, I tried again & since then I haven't had any meat/poultry/gelatin =] I'm proud of myself, haha. No one I'm related to is a vegetarian or vegan, so it was kind of hard for me to change since my dad used to put me down for it. But now my family totally supports me since I proved them that I could make the change.

@Cassie, you could always try Morning Star's vegetarian bacon =] i buy their food from Albertson's, but i'm not sure if you have one of those where you live lol

I'm a vegetarian, and have been for about 2 1/2-3 years haha.
It wasn't too hard, because about 4 years ago I started slowly and cut out red meat out of my diet (wasn't a fan of beef anyways..) and then slowly stopped eated poultry and pork (love bacon! lmao I miss it terribley).

For awhile I stopped eating fish as well, but then I discovered sushi and started to eat it again, haha.

There are different levels of vegetarianism, and if you're finding it hard to stop eating meat, start with slow changes like I did. Just eat white meat for awhile and then slowly wean yourself off it.

OH and the best vegetarian-friendly "meat" products are the Scneiders (sp?) "Au Natural" products. Those will help with the transition as well.

Wish you all the best! :)

If you are a vegetarian because you don't like meat, then I completelly support you. But if you are one of those who think that eating meat is wrong because of the animals..., then I don't support you at all. Eating another life forms (as vegetals...) is only natural and is only thanks for the human ancestors who were omnivoruos just like us, that we are who we are: homo sapies sapiens. To feed this body of us is not an easy task, if you are vegetarian it would be quiete hard to keep you well fed, not imposssible, but not easy. Anyway..., I hope you don't believe that stuff about animals...

haha. never tried and most probably never will....
i dont get it. i mean i have respect for the people who do it, but i couldnt imagine myself becoming a vegeterian. ive thought about it but i always come to the same conclusion, ''the animals are going to die anyway, and get eaten by someone else, so why not just me?'' and then i just eat it.
i have lots of friends who are vegeterian. i support them, but dont think i will be joining them ever.
haha that might have sounded harsh. but i love meat. well not beef or lamb, but chicken and sushi and its a part of who i am, so i dont think i could ever really give it up :D

i tried becoming a vegeterian a few years ago aswell but my mum refused to cook me meals without meat and said that if i really wanted to become one i would have to buy all of my own food and stuff and i really couldn't afford to get my own shopping every week. hehe i'm making my mum sound evil but she's really not lol - it was just inconvinient for her. i'll probably try again when i get a part time job
=) x

vegetarian since may '08. not really hard at all - meat was always a gross, tasteless thing to me. no one i'm related to is vegetarian, but my immediate family has been okay about it, although my dad thinks i'm trying to be a annoying or something and my sister thought it was just a teenage phase that would last to xmas '08, well i showed her lol! my grandad was a bit more difficult he's a traditional meat and two vegetables englishman and whenever we went for a family meal there was always difficulty. well for starters he first thought i didn't eat beef but ate chicken and got extremely annoyed when i pointed out how wrong he was. then he always seems to book a place which just does carvery on a sunday which is when we always have to go on (traditional as i said) and thought i'd be okay just eating vegetables with no nutroast or quorn. he could have gone to a place which has a normal menu too, but no! he won't have that. i think he gets it more now, but he's never shown respect for how good i am being vegetarian which upsets me.

lol i really had to get that off my chest.
