After hearing her story, I respect her more =D She's okay I guess. I never hated her, just never really a fan.
Love her! I don't get why they're are soo many haters. Demi is a person that was struggling with herself and everyone goes through a really tough time in their lives.
If ppl don't like her than just leave her alone and have some respect. She is just trying to figure out who she is just like everyone does.
For anyone who cuts or doesn't think that they are good enough stay strong and NEVER give up.
@tragically_hip Ok. Elaborate. Hmm.. I guess I learned a new word :) I don't mean that she completely copied her. I ment that I think she did in some ways. It's just that I heard her say before that Hayley was one of her biggest role models, and when you have role models, you think a lot about what they do and how they act, and sometimes (maybe even without knowing it) you change and become more similar to that person. So I don't mean that Demi copied Hayley in every single way, because she never did. But I can see a lot of similarities between the Hayley and the way Demi acted a couple years ago.
Now I feel that Demi has changed. She is more "grown up" - you know what I mean? And she doesn't remind me of Hayley anymore at all. I just think of her as Demi.
And, of course, I don't KNOW this. I guess you can never really be 100% sure of anything. I just think it's like this because I know a lot about both Hayley and Demi, and I know that a lot of other people also have thought about it. But I don't really think it's that big of a deal.
She Had Her Issues And Stuff And I Don't Blame Her For It. She Went To Rehab For Bi Polar Disorder It's Not A Crime. I Don't Like Her Music That Much.

i always thought that she was just another disney star like miley cyrus and crap... but then i heard her song Skyscraper and i heard what she went through and i became a fan because i relized she is now a good artist and not another disney zombie
I actually like Demi. I watched a video of her singing before she got famous, and I loved it. So I have kind of followed her along the way. I think she is very talented, and I have a lot of respect for her. The fact that she went out public and talked about her problems proves that she is a very strong person.
I understand why people think she is being a bad role model because of this. But really, it's not like with Britney Spears or Miley Cyrus etc. It's not Demi's fault that she is has a depression, and cutting herself is something she has done for years. She doesn't WANT her fans to end up like her, she is trying to stop it from happening. Because of this I actually think she is a good role model. She is honest.
About the whole "copying Hayley" thing, I think she is over it. I agree, it was a point in her life where she was probably copying her, and I have to admit that it was kind of annoying. Still, we all do it. We all have role models. We all copy other people. It doesn't matter if it's your older sister or someone famous. It's how we learn. I think Demi got a lot of inspiration from Hayley, but I think she has moved on now.
So yes, I do like Demi, but I'm not really a fan like I am with Paramore:)

I like her. She's a beautiful, talented girl and people are so unbelievably ignorant and hateful towards her, she doesn't deserve any of it. I'm definitely a fan and can't wait to hear Skyscraper already.

It wasn't like she was flaunting it, she covered her scars with make up. If kids think it's cool to do that for the sake of it then they're stupid. She left Disney anyway.
I think it's crazy that she cut herself. She is a role model to a LOT of little kids that watch her or listen to her. So, when they learn about this they may think that it's cool to do that. Then they will try it to be "cool" to. I don't like her because my little sister likes her and I don't want my little sister to do that stuff! So there you go you got my answer

She annoys me. Not her music, just her personality. I have nothing against her, and I feel horrible about her going into rehab, but she's still rather annoying.

Well maybe the things she goes through tumbled down and hit her loophole or her weak spot. We can never judge people by the way we see them 'cause we do not always see the bigger picture. We can say that she has everything and blah blah,but there are always two sides in a coin,6 sides in a cube,and 5 sides in a pyramid. Well what i'm just trying to say is that we do not see everything. What really happens to a person depends upon his/her personality and the situations he/she goes through. Our actions are what set things in motions,but we have to live with that. Maybe Demi got really confused or depressed about hings that it really hit her hard. Well the important thing now is that she managed (or atleast managing) to stand up after all those. :))))

I think that Demi is strong. it doesn't matter if she's famous. depression, self injury, an eating disorder and bi-polar is serious. she's been dealing with this all her life. I actually look up to Demi. I have since forever. she's the only disney celebrity that I have ever looked up to. and @on the edge yeah she totally started hurting herself because she couldn't be Hayley. that's the whole reason behind it. -__-

it can be triggered from substance abuse, illness, bereavement & even money job worries/stress. Many people take a downward spiral which ultimately leaves them in a state of depression.
it's highly unlikely (let's just say impossible) that 'not being like Hayley' made her self harm.

Okay, I'm pretty much repeating what everyone else above you said, but that just shows how retarded and ignorant your comment was.
1. She never tried to be Hayley. Paramore is her favorite band, and Hayley is obviously a role model for her music career. Yes, famous people can have role models too.
2. Just because lots of people cut themselves doesn't make it not serious. It's actually even more serious that more people are doing it; more people cutting=more depression=more suicides. People don't cut to "be cool", or "try to be different". They cut to let out pain, and it often comes with depression.
3. She didn't get depressed from "failing at being Hayley". I don't think even the biggest posers could ever get depressed by that. Do you know Demi? Do you know what her life is like? Do you know what its like to be a teenager with the public watching your every move? No, you don't. All of us here don't. We've never lived her life. There's a million reasons why she could've been depressed, and from reading some of the comments, its because she had bipolar disorder and didn't know, and had mood swings and episodes in the public eye. That's a real reason to be depressed. Not "failing at being Hayley Williams" Do you even know what depression is? My sister had very serious depression when she was 13. No, it's not just being sad. It's a mental illness. It makes you very, very sad, not feeling safe, not wanting to do anything, not being able to concentrate, etc etc. I don't think anyone would be that sensitive to have a mental illness because of failing at being a poser. There has to be something serious going on, or you can just develop it like any other mental illness. Depression is a much more serious thing than you think.

Demi suffered for years with bipolar disorder, without even knowing it. So she didn't know what was happening to her and fell into a deep depression which caused her to harm herself. And dismissing something as serious as self-harm as if it was nothing!? Sure, a lot of people do it, but you act as if it's unimportant when it is a very serious issue.

I don't even think you know what depression is, it's a chemical imbalance in your brain and it's not caused because of a failure, it either just happens to you or it's a part of something else such as bipolar disorder or post traumatic stress disorder. Demi had bipolar disorder for years and didn't know, she had mood swings and was constantly being pushed around by her emotions, feeling blissful and insanely happy one moment and 2 minutes later so depressed she felt the need to hurt herself to try and release the pain. How dare you say that she cut herself because she failed at being Hayley. She struggled for years with a disease, never knowing what was wrong with herself and feeling on and off suicidal for many years of her life. The fact that she has worked so hard and recovered to the extent she has is miraculous. She is extremely strong. How dare you say she hurt herself to be popular. How dare you say anyone cuts themselves to be popular. You obviously know nothing.
