I'm usually really good at deciphering what songs and quotes, etc. mean, but when I was asked this question earlier today it took me awhile to find out what the meaning of it possibly could be. I came up with this but I was just wondering what you guys thought about it please leave your comments, and help me figure this one out...
I think I got this, although it may be hard for me to put into words. So in the beginning of the song the lyrics go "What a shame we all became such fragile broken things, a memory remains just a tiny spark." I think this means that something was breaking them down, tearing them apart, making them forget about something that they all needed to be reminded of, but that memory was still barely alive, "a spark". "I give it all my oxygen. So let the flames begin, let the flames begin. Oh glory" This means that if they give that "spark" of a memory all of their "oxygen" they can make it become alive again. They'll be "letting the flames" from that memory begin. The next set of lyrics go, "This is how we'll dance when, when they try to take us down, this is what we'll be. Oh glory." I think that this set of lyrics means that after that memory of who they once were, what they once wanted burns over them, they'll be left with who they are. And this will show them who they really are, and who they really have been, and will continue to be, no matter what happens. It showing them that "this is how they'll dance, this is what they'll be" in the end of everything. So, in the end I think that this song is about how letting the memories of who you were in the past can show you who you will end up being after everything is over. Or in other words, by letting the flames begin you can find hope, and see things that you maybe wouldn't have noticed before.
Alright I'm sorry about how long that was. It can be a lot to take in at once, so just re-read it a few times and hopefully you'll get what what I mean. Again, I don't know if my interpretation of it is correct, but this is what I think it means. (:
i think its about someone not caring about what happens and not changing to suit others so they are just letting the "flames" begin and let what happens happen.
I think it's about holding their head up high, and nothing is going to stop them.
Its one of my favorites from Riot!. That is all I know :)
dude/dudette your discripton is really long x(
good analysis :) I loveee that song.
This song makes me think of the hunger games trilogy it really reminds me of it. Can u make it the song of the movie he hunger games hayey!?!! PPPPPLLLEEEEAAAASSSSSEEEEE :D
I agree with ISH? "this is how we'll dance when, when they try to take us down, this is what we'll be oh glory" to me means that "this is how we'll be strong and hold our heads up high when they're mocking us and degrading us"
i actually dont agree. i believe it is about their faith, because Hayley is a Christian, and that maybe she lost sight of her faith and got caught up in being selfish and lost sight of who she is... then, she is trying to draw closer to God.
because in live versions, she ends with a prayer.... "Oh Father, oh Father, Father well I am ready, won't you let it begin, cause I am here now, I want to dance in, the mighty palm of your hand."
-it seems like she's longing for heaven, when she can dance in the pal of HIS mighty hand.
i agree
I believe that the song is about their faith and how we are only human.
yeah I agree 2
i interpreted it as a song about their faith, and how we are all fragile and broken people and how even when people might be making fun of them for their faith they are still going to sing and dance and praise God.
dats a good interpretation!
u should start doin something on al of their songs nd den people can compare!
I have noo idea. But its one of my favourites. :)
well this pretty good, but paramore also mention this song was something to do with their Christianity. so i thought maybye something to do with rapture and if you watch the final riot ,, the lyrics are ..
Oh Father, oh Father,
Father well I am ready,
won't you let it begin,
cause I am here now,
I want to dance in,
the mighty palm of your hand.
Let the Flames Begin is my favorite song and I think that what u said sounds soo rite, I would have never guess that good job!
Wow Thanks for all of the comments guys. I like some of the ideas I'm getting from it.
Thats Deep..But I like it.!
sounds like its about heaven and hell
burn our houses down? we get the glory and what not.
i think its about how fucked up we are.
and how we need god in our lives.
like in the Final Riot!
Hayley said on an Interview with MTV(or something) that Let The Flames Begin was rushed to be written.
your good at seeing what a songs true meaning is. :)
