LENT STARTS TODAY. WHAT HAVE YOU GIVEN UP?

(20100217T202535Z )

I suppose that to really get some appreciation for suffering we should all give up Paramore for six weeks. Aaaaaarggghh

This year i have given up cheese, chocolate and crisps.  Will be difficult, but obviously better for my health too.

@LovelyLabrys Thanks I just felt it was something I had to do, or I was going to loose my mind. You can only take so much rejection until it all starts to get to you.

Well done Amber - you'll have to make it something you haven't already done today. If you are in U.S though, the day is only young isn't it.

Kinda makes sense because i was thinking "Gee, they have the Ash Wednesday service REALLY LATE in Amber's church". Tsk, i'm an idiot!

@ Zander - It it was a resolution from New Year, you are doing really well. Make it a year well lived so you have loads of inspiration.

I don't know yet, actually. I am going to get ashes at church in about 15 minutes... So yep. :)

Actually, considering how many people on her claim to be Christian, the number of people committing to Lent, or even commenting on it, is very small.

I wonder how many people will still be Christians when they move on from Paramore?

@LovelyLabrys Well the label I was with that droped me was RCA so trust me they had all the right stuff to manage and market me. Oh I won't compromise my credibility or talent, and that's why I was let go. I'm not like Britney Spears who will just let her label run her life for her we all see how much good that did for her, she went crazy and lost her mind. I'm thinking maybe I should look into signing with an indie label cause they give you that freedom, or if I can find a major label that will d that I'll sign with them. It's just not my time right now so I just got to continue to work on it and wait until it is my time.

I think most record companies need compromises in order to market/manage properly. The key is not to compromise your credibility or talent. There are some out there that give people chances.

@LovelyLabrys Thanks I'm hoping that's what will happen. I'll be all relaxed and dying to get back in the studio and start writing again. Hopefully it all works out and I actually can find a label that will take me as I am and not try to change me.

A lot of singers/bands do that and them come back with amazing stuff. Good luck.

I've given up my music for a year to take a break, and hopefully get some inspiration to write a demo that will get me singed. I been working on my music since I was 17 and RCA signed me (I ended up getting dropped cause I wouldn't let the label turn me into a puppet and change me like they wanted to), and I think after going with very little time off for 3 years I need a break. The last demo I did I didn't hear anything from anyone. I'm taking time off to just be 20 years old for awhile, then I'll come back in 2011 and write the best demo I've ever written.
