I see you're point: those answers were very intellegently argued. However:

historically speaking, you didn't have to join the hitler youth... hundreds of german's didn't, although this did mean that they found it harder to get jobs. Others left the country. The main reason he was in the hitler youth was (and I know this was not his fault) that his father was a policeman, which meant he was probably a member of the Nazi party. I only actually bring up thr whole hitler youth thing because Benidect is a much more right-wing pope than John Paul 2, a man who I admired.

It is important to remember that when he was head of the congregation for the docterine of the faithful, cardinal ratzinger was instrumental in covering up the sex abuse.

No, I wasn't planning on bringing up the inquisition or the crusades. I only do that when catholics tell me that non-believers are evil, or members of another church are evil.

Catholics and the Catholic Church have done a lot of good in the world, and European culture and history would be very empty without the works of the church in the middle ages. This does not take away from my argument, but in fact (as i think you yourself would agree) reinforces it: the new testament is, after the buddhist texts, the holy book the is most supportive of tolerance and plurality. Why should its followers ignore this in favour of old testament tales of bloody retribution for all sins? 'Let he without sin...' etc.

You may not know how encouraging it was to here that you believe I have a good will. I haven't had very many people believe in me in life, and I didn't even believe in myself for 19 years. The scary part is, since I started using my voice, I've lost some people who I was really close to. It's like ... I challenged them to be greater, and they pushed me away because they couldn't handle it.

I prefer to be pushed away by others who don't believe in me than to be surrounded by people who siphon some kind of satisfaction from seeing me linger in silence.
